Rakesh & Roselyn’s Christian Wedding | The Sharks Board, KZN

I’ve decided to extract the colour from today’s post and keep the images totally black and white. Those who know me might say I’m having a random arb moment again. Perhaps that’s true to an extent. But there’s something about a black and white image that allows the viewer to see an image for what it really is. To see the true emotions, minus the distractions of colour. Don’t get me wrong, I love colour which is the forerunner and popular choice especially for an Indian wedding. But I think regardless of whether Rakesh and Roselyn are painted in colour or black & white, the absolute joy and fun they had on their wedding day is translated in these few images.
PS: Best video montage ever seen was at this wedding! So creative!!

How did you meet?
We met at Gateway. Roselyn used to work at an art supply store, I went in to look around, noticed her and kept wondering how I could approach her, eventually I had to purchase something from the store, a sketch pencil set I think, just to speak to her. We chatted for a bit, she was friendly enough, so now I had to have her number. I paid for the pencils, left the store, got the till slip with the shops number and called her immediately. The rest as they say is a beautiful love story.

What is your most special memory of your wedding?
This is a trick question, we had lots of special moments that we treasure. The one that stands out for me is seeing my beautiful bride walk down the aisle escorted by her proud father, she was stunning and I could see her smile, that smile gets me every time and on our Wedding Day she smiled a lot and it brightened up the event for me to know that she was truly happy. Surprisingly Roselyn’s also says it was when she was walking towards her soon to be husband, as she says “it was simply a dream come true.”

What was the hardest part of the planning process?
It had to be the invite boxes, we decided to hand make boxes for the invites. It was time consuming, involved lot of precise work, lots of trial and error.

Did  you experience any unexpected turns during the wedding process and how  did you handle it?
There were a few things that we noticed. We just had to have a “whoosaaa” moment and let things take its course. Our guest were having a good time and it was too late to sort the issues out so we just went with it and had a great day.

Any advice for brides-to-be?
Do lots and lots of research. You have to remember that it’s your special day and let that be your driving force behind the planning.

Looking back, is there  anything you would have done differently?
Nothing. We loved our day, yes a few things may have not went according to plan, it was perfect for us. We had the chance to share our special day with people that really meant a lot to us, on a beautiful day.
